Uk Web & Mini Comix Thing 2007 Pixel Diary: SUSHI!

I decided to do some pixel gifs about the UK Thing.... A Pixel Diary of sorts...



It all starts with sushi....

Every time I go the airport in Madrid I have sushi for some reason...

I had it when I met Danielle, I had when I was there for BICS and I had it this time too!!

The sushi isn't top quality, but it's the only time I can have sushi....

And yes, I gave them tiiiiiny faces....

Jinkies! I'm back from the UK Web & Mini Comix Thing 2007! YAY!

My ears are still feeling funny from the flight..... :P

I didn't manage to do a single thing the day before. Even though the plane landed at 14:00 and I didn't get lost, by the time I arrived at the hotel everything was closed... So... I ate sammiches.... For every meal!

I'm living the good life! XP

Even the walk to the con was AWESOME! I wasn't sure which way to go, but I saw a group with a bag full or comics... They were from Lulu UK and there were very nice people! We talked about indie comics, and they were very surprised that I recognized almost every webcomic on their free sampler!

I was first visited Ali of Afterstrife, he remembered my Meg gif! YAY! Notice the AWESOME Joe and Monkey Shirt! :)



Then I met James Turner of Beaver and Steve! He drew a little dancing Beaver, cause he remembered the dancing Beaver I did! YAY!

OMG! IT'S RAINA TELGEMEIER AND DAVE ROMAN! SQUEEE!!

They were the cutest couple at the con!



There ARE SOOOOO COOL! We talked quite a while and they even knew my name and all! XD
I could either rant for hours... or maybe just several minutes about how awesome and talented they are, but I'll just tell you to go to their sites and buy their comics.... NOW! Oh...They had a Ron Weasly Doujinshi, which was hilarious!


They were next to... John Allison! COR!



I got kinda nervous, specially because of the line that was behind me... He is one of the most famous artists in the UK after all....
He had a special ScaryGoRound mini comic and some limited prints, yet I bought the other ones.... Dave Roman took the photo!

Next I met Jenika, I met her at BICS and was happy to see her here too! She actually remembered me from the other con! :)



You should really check out her site! You won't regret it! :)
She also had a tombstone and gave me CANDY!!!!! XD

I bought a water of Imogen and the sketchbook and more SHIIINY buttons, which she got from the awesome POUSER INK! (Wink, wink, plug, plug). She also singed my Side A, which oddly enough, I got before her! :P

I met them at BICS and fell in love with Malcolm Magic! They didn't have any new Malcolm Magic, but they had other comics! YAY! Possibly the best comic in print in the UK! XD

I met a lot more people, most of them friends of the Webcomic Crossover and Cameo Archive. It was a bit of a blur after that...

After three hours, my backpack was full and my stomach was empty... I had to leave.... *sniff*

I said my goodbyes to Raina, Roman, Liz and left... I could have practically eaten for free there... Almost everybody offered candy and cookies, but I did buy from almost all of them... I think... Like I said, my mind was blur.... :P





CANDY!!!! YAY!

So... I went to Forbidden Planet, once again, it took way too much time to get there! It was almost closing time when I got there and I didn't dilly dally with lunch!

I got Owly books, Scooter Girl, Lenore, some Sonic comics and... A SONIC HAT! SEEEEEGAAAA!

Everything closes so early in the UK, so I got up early so I could shop for souvenirs at the airport.... The trip to the airport was as long as the plane ride.... Seriously, how bloody big is the UK? :P

When I got to the airport, I found out that you only have one suitcase on the plane and one carryon luggage.... Thank God... I didn't get too carried away.... Well...



Oooh...Kay... Maybe I got a little carried away! But I couldn't help it! They gave me candy! AND THEY HAD SHINY THINGS!

I also got sketchies galore!




Where was I? Oh yeah... Shopping... Well, I bought chocolates and tea... and... the NEW PHEONIX WRIGHT FOR ME!! HOLD IT! OBJECTION!

And yet, I read comics all the flight... Mostly everthing I bought from Raina and Dave... THEY GAVE ME A SAMMICH ON THE PLANE!

The best part? I DIDN'T GET THE PLAGUE! YAY!

TEA TIME!

Since I can't think of anymore artists I'll meet at the UK Web & Mini Comix things... I thought of.. TEA!

The lil' sugar cube is bathing in it! XD


I'm pretty sure I don't have that much time for sightseeing in London, so I'll just shop a little in the Canary Wharf and go to Forbidden Planet... I dunno....

Which reminds me, I really hope Side A arrives tomorrow... Because on Friday I'll already be at London... :(

I'm doing the final steps to get ready for the UK Web & Mini Comix Thing, but there is one thing I must know....

What do all you con goers do to prevent from getting... "the con plague"? I got it in the Birmingham International Comics Show, but I had some medicine and got over it more or less, but it would be nice if I didn't get it at ALL t at this con!

Today I listened to first audiobook that wasn't really a podcast, the Discoworld novel Wintersmith, which was just as awesome as I expected!

I also seem to have been mentioned, but not by name, in the Gigcast.... EEP!


I had a phone call from a good friend, who actually went to the recent Manga Expo in Madrid, like I expected, it was just a bunch of merch stores and people dressed up as Naruto and Bleach characters...

Like all my other friends, he keeps saying I'm the only person he knows that reads webcomics... :/

Hmm... comics!

This is practically how I spent the day today, reading Strangers in Paradise... Oooh... Mmm.... Comics GOOD!



I also finally decided to subscribe to Audible, and chose the Discworld novel Wintersmith to spend my first credit...

I also read an article from the Game Developers Conference where they said that "Hardcore" gamers like frustrating and overly long games... If "hardcore" games are not supposed to be fun anymore, then I'm now officially a indie retro gamer.... ¬_¬

Speaking of which today I played the WORST game ever, I doubt you want to hear about it, but imagine a game with an instruction booklet that's really an activity book, which you MUST complete to play the game!

Bottled up" rant...

I'm not sure if I mentioned the "Botellon" things that goes on around here, to sum it up, kids buy cheap booze and get drunk in the streets...

I didn't mind much, but it seems to get worse every workend, they recently started to bring snacks, and now they buy PIZZA!
Why do I care? Because they drink in front of my apartment, because there are more and more piles of garbage from these "Big Bottles" each week.....

My keyboard died, so I needed to buy a new one, on the way to the mall, I saw LOTS of more rubbish from the "Bottle" party, even in the subway station!

At the subway station, I saw some kids... cosplaying? Whoa... At first I wondered if they were cosplayers or LARPers, but I would find out later...

Some of you might have forgotten but Madrid got bombed in a subway station some years ago, one year after 9/11, and after that they had signs saying that you couldn't leave your bags unattended and that unattended bags should be reported, yada, yada, bla, bla...

Guess what I saw on my way back? A unattended bag! What did I do? Check it out! Guess what? MORE LEFTOVER TRASH FROM A "BOTTLE" PARTY! X(

I truly believe Spain gets bombed so often by E.T.A. that we no longer give a damn, sure we get outraged if someone dies in the explosion, but we forget easily...

More people arrives, and they didn't give a damn either. If this had happened in the US, I bet the bomb squad would have been there in seconds.... ¬_¬

I'm serious about this bomb stuff! My parents had a terrorist attack right in front of them and they didn't give a damn! My sister had an explosion close to her working place, she was nervous at first, but got over it fast....

In the train station I saw more cosplayers... All dresses as Naruto characters... There must be an anime convention I guess....
I don't think an anime convention is even worth attending to, they just have merch, and not much more....

*sniff* I'll miss them... Hmm, should I make them into a strip? With this infinite canvas clause, I could claim it to be my first comic, right? :)



I'm seriously debating whether to subscribe to Audible or not... It's a site where you can get audiobooks, and if you subscribe you get a credit to spend on a book each month.... I'll already listening to the free audiobooks at Podiobooks but... those are running out...

I like printed books, but I'm a pack rat who is running out of room... Audiobooks are looking like a good idea every day! Seriously, I'm still looking for a place for the latest batch of comics I got! :P

A funny thing about audiobooks is the pricing, it seems that they are quite cheap now, and cost about the same as the book, except for the newer ones, I think.... Here's an example, the first Harry Potter book is about 20€, but the latest is 80€! YIKES!

They have a huge library there, they don't have all the audiobooks, they don't have Harry Potter, but they do have almost all the Discworld novels! If I had those on my iPod I'd listen to them as often as I could!
